In an effort to create a team of weak hitting left handed outfielders, the Mets have announced the signing of Rob Mackowiak to a minor league contract.

In just 53 at bats last season with the Nationals, Mackowiak hit just .132.

Hopefully he will never play for the Mets in 2009...
