THM Injury Report

As it was members of this blog who broke the news to Metsblog regarding the injury to Mets' top prospect Fernando Martinez, it is only appropriate we provide with our injury report.  In Wednesday night's game in Binghamton, Martinez strained his right hamstring running to second. Martinez claimed to hear just a little pop and was moving quite gingerly with a significant limp.

On Friday morning, Fernando Martinez travelled to New York to meet with team doctors. After receiving an MRI, the Mets detemined that Martinez will be out for approximately 3 weeks. Fernando was originally slated to rehab in Binghamton and remain with his team, but the Mets altered that plan and he reported to Port St. Lucie for his rehab assignment earlier today.

This injury comes just as Martinez was actually beginning to live up to all that Teenage Hitting Machine talk. Injuries has proven to be Fernando's biggest set backs during his time in the minors. Hopefully he will be able to rejoin the team quickly and continue to progress. Time will tell though if injuries will continue to plague this kid as he treks towards New York.
