Torrealba Deal Falls Apart

The deal was as good as done, news outlets everywhere were reporting that the Mets had signed free agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba. And then suddenly, everything fell apart.

The two sides already had agreed on a three-year contract worth $14.4-million and it appeared that the only remaining holdup to an official announcement was a physical.

Mets spokesperson Jay Horowitz spoke about the situation, stating that the Mets had not reached a deal with Torrealba, and there are no current negotiations.

I don't get it, this deal was as good as done, I have a feeling that in the coming days we will know more about why the deal fell through; but at the moment, both the Mets and Torrealba's agent are mum on the issue.

Paging Omar... Now might be a good time to bring LoDuca back, which everyone knows was the right move from the beginning.
