The Mets have placed backup catcher Ramon Castro on the DL retroactive to August 13th. Castro was only supposed to miss a few games, but the arthritis in his back has not improved. With Paul LoDuca also on the DL, this is a huge blow to the Mets, who will be looking to Mike Difelice and Sandy Alomar Jr. to carry the load at catcher for the next week or two.
